Large Fragment Locking System
5.0mm
The 5.0mm Wise-Lock Large Fragment System is part of a Stainless Steel and Titanium Plate and Screw System that merges locking screw technology with conventional plating techniques. The plate holes have been designed to accept some degree of deformation. The bone plates accept locking and non-locking screw. The instruments associated with the 5.0mm Wise-Lock Large fragment system makes the system efficient and easy to use.
Product Features:
- Allows fracture treatment using conventional plating with conventional Cortical or cancellous bone screws.
- Allows fracture treatment using locked plating with bicortical or uni cortical locking screws.
- Permits the combination of conventional and locking screw techniques.
- Uniform hole spacing
- Load (compression) and neutral screw positions
- Screws lock to the plate, forming a fixed-angle construct.
- Combi hole, depending on the indication, allows conventional compression plating, locked plating, or a combination of both.
- Locking plate increases construct stability, decreases risk of screw back-out and subsequent loss of reduction. It also reduces the need for precise anatomic plate contouring and minimizes the risk of stripped screw holes.
- Choice of different lengths of plate eliminates the need to cut plates.
- The shaft holes accept 5mm wise-lock screws in the threaded portion or 4.5 mm cortical screws or 5 mm wise-lock cancellous screws in the compression portion.
Locking Screw:
- Self-tapping design
- Self-retaining Star Driver
- Threaded head profile creates a fixed-angle construct
Cortical Screw:
- Self-tapping design
- Self-retaining Star Driver
Intended Use:
The 5.0mm Wise-Lock Large Fragment System implants are intended for fixation of various long bones, such as the femur, and tibia. They are also for use in fixation of periprosthetic fractures, osteopenic bone, and nonunions or malunions.
