PLIF CAGE
Posterior Lumbar Cage System (PLIF) includes a PEEK cage and titanium bone screws will be used together as an interbody fusion device for the lumbosacral spine (L2-S1). After the cage is implanted, the bone screws should be inserted. The cage and titanium bone screws are available in a variety of sizes in order to allow the surgeon to choose those that are best suited to the patient’s anatomy and pathology.
Product Features:
- Flared End – One of the unique features of the Lumbar Cage is its flared end, which helps to reduce the risk of migration or movement of the implant after surgery
- Specially aligned Teeth- Teeth on superior and inferior surfaces ensure good primary stability and reduce the risk of cage migration as flared ends.
- Axial Window – Accommodates autogenous bone graft or bone graft substitute to allow fusion to occur through the cage
Intended Use:
The Lumbar Cage is indicated for use in posterior lumbar interbody fusion or transforaminal interbody fusion in patients with Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) at one or two levels from L2 to S1. These DDD patients may also have up to Grade 1 Spondylolisthesis or retrolisthesis at the involved levels. DDD is defined as discogenic back pain with degeneration of the disc confirmed by history and radiographic studies. These patients should be skeletally mature and have had six months of non-operative treatment. Additionally, the lumbar Cage is indicated to assist in the setting of spinal deformity as a supplement to pedicle screw fixation in patients diagnosed with degenerative scoliosis.
